  • Sex therapy is a specialized form of talk therapy that focuses on the human sexual experience. It’s no different from traditional regular talk therapy except the clinician has extra training, interest, and experience with the topics of sex, sexual relationships, and sexual troubles and concerns.

    It is NOT:

    • lessons on how to do things

    • experiential (i.e., hands stay to yourself and clothes remain on at all times)

    • the same as surrogate partner work

A sex therapist can help a client work through the psychological factors contributing to sexual issues by addressing underlying concerns, such as stress, anxiety, trauma, poor communication, cultural/religious pressures, or confidence issues to name but a few.

  • Sex-Positive means If it’s happening between consenting and informed adults, then there’s nothing wrong with it - or rather in fancy terms, there’s nothing to pathologize.

Being a sex-positive practice means that our clients can bring their whole selves into the therapy room without fear of recrimination, judgment, or reproach.

Our therapists strongly believe in a person’s inherent autonomy to make decisions about their own pleasure, heart, and body.

  • It’s different for everyone, but on average our individual clients will come in for at least 6 months of weekly or bi-weekly sessions, and many decide to make it a part of their wellness lifestyle for much longer. Conversely, some clients feel relief in shorter amounts of time and choose to fly the nest after 2 or 3 months with all our well wishes.

However, we’re flexible and want to support our clients’ goals within their budget and schedule any way we can. That means some clients come in monthly and others weekly and whatever other cadence best suits them.

For couples we recommend 4 weekly sessions in the first month of at least a 4 month commitment with bi-weekly sessions for the remaining time.

At the end of 4 months we will do a check-in and consider doing another 4 months or taking a break to let lessons and revelations sink in.

Crisis situations or acute issues may mean clients need more frequent visits; likewise if things have settled down we can talk about terminating our therapeutic relationship or dropping down to spot check-ins every so often instead.

We believe in providing support for a reason, a season, or even [part of] a lifetime and follow the client’s needs every step of the way.

  • Yes! It’s a little like the Brady Bunch, but it’s super convenient and easy to pull off.

  • The office is open for in-person sessions Monday thru Thursday.
